2004 Toyota Camry Good Deal?

Hey there Everyone! Hope you’re all doing well and thank you for responding to my question. I recently just checked out an Automatic 2004 Toyota Camry with 173,000 miles on it. Cosmetically it has an about 3 inch crack in the front bumper and a few scratches on the back bumper. It was mechanically sound from my rough drive test and shifted nice, not burning oil either from checking the tailpipe and asking the owner. He was asking 4500 but I convinced him to come down to 4100 because of the issues above. I’m not too big on cosmetics of the car anyways so it doesn’t bother me too much, it was just a good reason to get it cheaper.
So I told him, I’ll purchase the vehicle as long as the pre purchase inspection I’m Getting this Friday on the car comes back good.
So basically I’m asking did I get a good deal? I personally think 4100 for a sound Camry is good but would like to know your opinions. Thank you!

did I get a good deal

What engine does this one have? If it's the AZ-I4, then you've wasted your money.

Well luckily I haven’t bought it yet. It’s the 2.4 L 4 cylinder engine. Not sure what the exact engine name is but I believe it is the 2AZFE. I know that some of these engines burn oil but I’ve heard they’re pretty reliable as long as they don’t burn oil which I believe this one doesn’t. What makes you say it’s a waste of money?

The 2AZFE engine made by Toyota is one of the worst engines Toyota made. They are oil burners. I would not buy any Toyota vehicle that has this engine. I would not gamble with this one.

Didn’t the oil burning ones start from 2006, for the Camry?

Didn't the oil burning engines start in the new model in 2007?

That’s what I was thinking as well. Heard many good remarks about the 2004-2006 Camry Reliability.

Bear in mind the car is nearly 2 decades old. It might give some more years of reliable service or it might not. It would be best to have a good mechanic give it a clean bill of health before forking over the cash.

If it passes a thorough PPI, then $4100 is a decent deal in this inflated market.
