Hey y'all- haven't been here in a while, thanks in advance for any advice!
Some years back my former (emphasis on former) mechanic told me that my 04 Toyota Corolla S needed new front struts. Seeing that he had always been truthful about what my car did & didn't need in the past I mistakenly went ahead with the repair without putting enough consideration into it. After he removed the Toyota oem front struts and put in what I believe were Monroe quick struts, the car ran like a go-kart and was unbelievably stiff and uncomfortable when going down bumpy roads (and hitting even tiny potholes). I wanted to believe there would be a "break-in" period but that never came. Ready to cut my losses Im willing to do what I have to do to make the car drive smoother again, and not like a washing machine on a brick road. Car is still driving great with 160k miles, so question is will putting back on new Toyota oem struts and springs bring the ride back to more how it originally rode? Im aware KYB makes some suspension parts for Toyota if Im not mistaken, would KYB quick struts be comparable?
thanks again! this forum is great & much appreciated!
What make & model of tyres are you using presently, and how old are they?
It might be worthwhile buying new comfort oriented tyres first, compared to buying new OEM shocks.
maybe you just got too used to the old worn out ones
This is what gets @mittegag going
