I've been driving this Matrix a few months now with no (electrical) issues - might need a new clutch though, but that's besides the point - and yesterday I disconnected the battery to try an A/V receiver swap. Didn't get too far since I have to do splicing and such (I learn the hard way sometimes), so I put everything back together, and as soon as I reconnect the battery the alarm starts to sound, and I don't know how to turn it off!
I have read about some solutions online already, but none of them seem to work for 100% of all people. How do I turn this thing off? If I am not mistaking, this is the alarm system that came with the car from the factory since I think the receiver itself blinks to show alarm system activity. Thank you for any help you can provide!
Like some sources mentioned, I found a big black box (main security module) with a big white connector and disconnected them. Car starts fine and everything, but I'm sure I'll need to take it to a locksmith so they can tell me how all this works.
In the mean time, I'm pretty sure the fact that this car is a stickshift will be a good enough anti-theft mechanism. 😉 Now it's time to get the clutch taken care of...
