2005 Honda CRV Flashing D light, catalytic converter has been stolen, and will not shift out of 3rd gear.
Hey Scotty, I JUST purchased an Automatic 2005 Honda CRV with 275000km for a spanking deal! as it turned out it may have been too good to be true. I knew its Catalytic converter had been stolen and a straight pipe welded on but i pulled the trigger anyway as there were A LOT of people lined up to buy this vehicle behind me. The car did not have plates on it so I could only test drive it in the residential streets under 50km/h. I noticed the D light was flashing when I fired it up but I did not really think anything of it honestly. Upon driving it home I noticed it shifted into 3rd hard once, and then it almost refused to shift into 4th. So i drive it at 3500 RPM going 80km/h the rest of the way home (10 minutes). Thoughts on this issue? Thanks!
Your 1st move is to get the codes checked. It could be something simple like one of the transmission fluid pressure switches. They're on the outside of the transmission and are cheap and easy to replace
