[Solved] 2005 Lexus RX 330 Forever-flashing “AFS OFF” in instrument cluster

Hello! First post on here.

Context:
I bought a used 2005 Lexus RX 330 auto transmission with 134k miles a couple months ago from a dealership and everything was functioning (including the AFS). The vehicle (which was a single-owner vehicle until I purchased it) is in pretty good condition. It has a crack in the passenger-side dash that I don’t really care much about (everything else is pretty much intact), had reported damage from a sideswipe in the front left nearly a decade ago and reported minor damage in the rear right from several years ago. Has nearly 3 dozen service records at a local Lexus dealer. My mechanic of the past several years (good friend who I trust) test drove it and inspected the underbody and told me that the vehicle was mechanically sound (engine, transmission, etc.).

Issue:
I was enjoying seeing the AFS headlights automatically turn when commuting to work in the early mornings or late nights, but a couple weeks after I purchased the vehicle I noticed the blinking “AFS OFF” light in my instrument cluster. I did some googling and thought it was a faulty/broken sensor (I had drove over a rather large pothole the night before). I knew it wasn’t a big deal so I continued driving the car normally (but the headlights did seem a lot dimmer than before).

Testing:
However, last week I tried playing around with the AFS Off button. I pressed it once and turned off the vehicle. Then I restarted it and the AFS OFF light was on but no longer flashing. Then I pressed the AFS Off button again and the light was no longer flashing AND my AFS lights began working again (I could see them turning while driving)! But days later the light came back on again, and I repeated the same process and it worked again. Then a couple days ago I drove about 50 miles on a short trip and about 10 miles from my destination the AFS OFF light began flashing, but about 2 miles from my destination the light stopped flashing and the AFS lights began turning like normal. I also noticed when I get out of the car that there are 2 bulbs that look extremely dim at night - not sure if they are the AFS lights or my daytime running lights though...

Question:
So now I’m confused as to what is really causing this problem. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this, or any suggestions (other than “get it checked out by your local Lexus dealer” because I’m trying to do a little self-diagnosing first)? I hope this is the right place to ask this question! Thanks!

When you hit that bump you probably changed the adjustment of the rear light leveling switch mounted on the rear suspension.

Maybe. But then why would it still be working properly intermittently? It was working perfectly this morning at 5am despite the AFS OFF light flashing and it not working 2 nights ago...
