2005 Nissan X-terra P0710 code?

Hello, Scotty.

So, my 2005 Nissan X-terra, 4.0 liter automatic, pops a 0710 code which, after careful research that I made, means that I might have a faulty transmission fluid sensor.

The thing is, I have no clue how it looks and after many days of searching, all I could find is videos of other car brands and what their sensor look like.

I do know that mine has that sensor in the valve body, I just don't know if it is a separate part, or an integrated part of the valve body.

Parts are generally hard to come by, where I'm from so... do I have to buy a whole new valve body, or the sensor is a separate part and I have to dig deeper and hopefully will be able to find it at least in the secondhand parts shop?

I do need some help with this one.

Thanks in advance.

It’s more likely the wiring is bad

@imperator yeah... I have to go to different guy for that since my mechanic doesn't do electrical stuff. But I really want to figure out what this part looks like, so that I myself can know where and what to look for as well.

Since I'm not good with electrical things, at all, wiring stuff always scares me and I am hopping that, that won't be the case. Since I have no idea if I'll have to pool the car in to bits to find, where the wiring is going bad.

Sometimes it’s as simple as a chafed wire or corroded connector. Nothing to be afraid of.

Have you consulted a shop manual?

@chucktobias I looked over the list in the provided link, closely and unfortunately I can't find that specific part. It makes me feel like my car doesn't have that part and several different scanners just through out the ghost code, or something. I am starting to feel like I'm delusional.

Have you checked Nissan's parts database for that model? (Though "phantom" codes are possible, or codes may be repurposed on some vehicles. I've had that happen.)

@chucktobias I checked every database possible, today and 2005 year model doesn't list that part anywhere. However, 2007 and up models, do show that part. So I am a bit confused. Guess I'll have to pull down the oil pan and have a check myself and make sure if mine has that sensor, or not. If it does, then there's question of will a 2007 model sensor work on mine, since I can't seem to find that part on 2005 year model. Not Amazon, not Ebay, not Rockauto, not even Nissan's official parts store show that part for 2005 year model, but for 2007, they do.
