Hello all, so I am about to start replacing my suspension on my 2005 toyota matrix XR awd with just over 200k miles very soon.
I drive a ton now, and the ride isn't great, especially over bumps. I know it won't be like a lexus ride, but I think it will be greatly improved with new suspension.
Starting with KYB struts, but they don't have springs. Any recommendations, as it doesn't look like kyb has coil springs?
Thanks!
I already answered this somewhere else, but really just use the KYB struts and use the springs over. None of the spring and shock assemblies are made all that while they're cheaply made generally in China as a cheaper placement. Just realize you never got a smooth ride in that our matrix always rides. Rough. I tried many ways, but it's just a design of the vehicle. It has a rough ride handles. Great though
Thanks Scotty!
OEM.
A Matrix will never ride like a Lexus though.
KYB usually makes shocks and springs together (but not always). Is it a special Matrix or something?
No it is just an awd version, but the fronts are the same. The only ones that pull up for KYB don't have the coil springs. I will just use the same ones over again. Thanks!
