Looking at purchasing a 2006 Mazda 6, $2500, 219k miles. No known issues, is this a good buy as a potential backup car or secondary daily driver? How many more miles can I reasonably expect to get. I have an 05 pilot with 264k miles and an 05 sienna with 212k miles, so I'm used to higher miles. Just not sure about the Mazdas.

At that mileage, I would not even think about paying $2500, if it was maybe $1000 or less, it can be an ok beater car, but considering how problematic those cars are, I would look elsewhere.

No

To be more specific Mazda was paired with Ford back in that time frame. Their vehicles were not the best back than. I would not look at a Mazda pre 2013.

At 219,000 miles, I would pass.

Maybe. If the Mazda6 you are looking at is Made in Japan, and has a Mazda engine made in Japan mated to an Aisin transmission, I would be more open to it.

If it is more of a Ford (ecoboost) engine to a random transmission, and made outside of Japan, I would pass.
