Hello Scotty,
I am a huge fan and I don't trust many local mechanics in South St. Louis.
I have a check engine light on my 2006 4.2L Triton. Two weeks ago, the gas cap warning light also came on. I replaced the gas cap--it is still on. I think I need to replace the fuel filter, change the plugs and wires at the very least since it has 149600 miles on it. I have also noted that sometimes the mileage that shows left in the tank fluctuates. Given that the engine is running rough, my assumption is that there is a fuel-related problem. I want to purchase a code reader that resets as well, what do you recommend and what does your gut say is wrong with the engine?
Regards,
John Kokenge
P.S. I am thinking of purchasing a 2020 Civic sport w/ 6 spd man. What are your thoughts?
The warning light can be due to a leaking filler neck. They're rubber & steel, given the year & area they might be leaking due to corrosion.
Have the line pressure tested to see if it's the pump.
Don't waste your money on the honda when you have a running vehicle.

Depends on what you want to do with it and what your budget is. Search this forum for more information on this topic.

Scan the code and go from there.

They are great cars but being a desirable car in this market, they are hard to find and usually overpriced.
