2006 Toyota Camry

Hi all:

Why is this a very good Camry? I see lots of praise for it in the forum and Car Wizard, but Car complaints says otherwise due to NHTSA data. I'm eye balling one $3800 145k because I want to try and avoid a monthly payment.

When you see this many reviews, and the worst ones were complaining about un-comfy seats and bad gas mileage, you know it is a solid car. If you plan to drive it a ton, you may want to go for a long test drive.

That was the last year of that series, and they had them ironed out pretty good. The 2007-2010 has oil burning issues with the same motor, but that was because they used different O rings in the engine.

I did some research and I'm curious, how were they reliable even with the 2AZ-FE engine? Did Toyota put in new piston rings or make slight changes that weren't done on previous years of this generation of Camrys?

Yes they changed them in 2007 for the worse. It was supposed to get better gas mileage or something, which led to burning oil because the rings were on so loose.

I see. But the engine was better in 2006 versus 2002-2005?
