Camry Burns Oil

My 2006 Toyota Camry LE 2.4, 367K miles, burns a whole lot of oil. I've tried several additive, replaced the valve cover gasket twice, and tried pouring seafoam down the spark plug wells. Is there anything else I can do that doesn't involve pulling the motor?

We also have the same 06 Camry with the 2.4L 4 Cylinder with 375k miles. We tried everything like you did, changed the valve cover gaskets, PCV valve, checked the oil pan, we even poured the UV dye and couldn't find any leaks. It's the worn out pistons rings. The 2AZFE Camry engines from 2002 to 2009 have a design flaw for thin piston rings to get better gas mileage from the EPA Regulations. Because of that the car burns oil especially during high mileage. Unfortunately just keep adding oil and pray it lasts. Or you have to rebuild the whole engine and put new piston rings.

Why? None of those things will help an oil burning problem.

Not really. Those 2.4 engines are known for burning oil even at lower mileage.

One thing you can check that I forgot to mention is the PCV valve, but usually that would cause light to moderate oil loss. (You didn't say how much oil is being used aside from "a whole lot".)

maybe a fresh PCV valve, and some oil system cleaner in case rings are caked up. That's about it. This engine will always be an oil burner.
