Hello,

I have a 2007 Camry 2.4L with 145k miles. I use Kirkland 5w30 full synthetic and change it every 5000 miles. It burns about a quart of oil every 800 miles. I live in ft worth, tx and was thinking of switching to castrol 10w30 full synthetic

Changing from 5W30 to 10W30 oil is not going to stop it from burning oil. Those engines are known to be oil burners due to defective piston rings from the factory. Chances are that's what your problem is.

You could try replacing the PCV valve which may help. There is also a chance that the problem is being caused by excess carbon on the rings. Some say that Valvoline "Restore and Protect" oil can clean up carbon deposits over time. Or, you could try the ATS "CRO 505" carbon clean product that Scotty has talked about. You could also check for oil leaks.

Other than that you'd have to overhaul the engine.
