I have an 07 Ford F-150 automatic supercab 2wd with a 5.4L triton V8. It has 163k miles and I'm the second owner starting at 97k miles. It's had the ignition coils replaced and some cylinder misfires fixed at the Ford dealership a long time ago (around 105k miles). It's been running smooth with no issues now. Is this a reliable truck for the long haul? I've seen where the Car Wizard says these are terrible engines and trucks? I've only put in $1500 worth of work, and I've had it for 7 years. Anything I should be concerned about as far as reliability goes?
Well they aren't terrible especially if your baby them. The main problem is the transmissions eventually wear out and then they need to be replaced. If the transmission starts slipping then you got to decide. Do you want to put in a rebuild transmission or get rid of?
