2007 Honda CR-V AC

I have a 2007 Honda CR-V LX Automatic Trans with 208K miles. Approximately 6 months ago, brought it in due to AC cooling for awhile then cutting out and not cooling. (I changed the "SNOW" relay a couple times, not knowing if it was bad or not.) Mechanic found Low-Pressure switch was faulty and replaced it. He evacuated the system and recharged.  Worked perfect. Now it has started, when weather here (Texas) gets at or about 100, the AC will run and cool.  But if we stop and cut car off, come back in a few minutes, AC will come on but does not cool.  Allow the car to sit overnight, and AC cools again.   What could be causing this to happen ?  I appreciate any insight you could give me.

Thanks Mike

When you come back in a few minutes and the A/C isn't blowing cold pop the hood.

1) are the radiator fans running?

2) is the A/C compressor clutch engaged?

If they are, then you may suspect the expansion valve is sticking.

In this case you'd want to hook up some A/C gauges.

People's eyes always glass over when that's suggested but if you can put air in your tires you have the necessary skills to hook up A/C gauges.

In your case you have a great "baseline". Your A/C works sometimes and you can observe the pressures when it's working fine and then hook up the gauges again when it isn't working fine.

If you go to Scotty's Garage he recommends an inexpensive set of Orion A/C gauges ($35).

Those pressures will help you figure this out.

Here's a helpful video to interpret those pressures (12 minutes). Also we're here on this forum if you need some help:
