Hello,
Recently, my Lexus started having difficulty starting sometimes.
I turn the key, the starter motor starts, but it doesn't engage. It just makes a whirring sound.
If I put the car in neutral and push it a bit (a couple of yards), and then try starting the car again, it typically works.
Other times, just turning off and on a couple of times is enough.
Should I have the starter motor changed, or are there other things I should check first (battery, etc.)?
I would also like to add that I had the flexplate changed about a year and a half ago. Could that be connected somehow?
Thank you
Well replace the starter. And pray it's not the teeth on the flywheel that are wearing out which cost a fortune to remove the transmission and replace
Thank you, Scotty
Just to make sure I understand correctly, isn't the flexplate the same as the flywheel in the Lexus?
And given that a shop recently (2 years ago) replaced my flexplate, should I go there again to have the starter motor replaced, and if they say the flexplate's bust, tell them they are the ones who replaced it?
Best,
Clemente
