2008 Lexus RX400h from first owner with 100k miles for $9000

Hi scotty! First of all I really appreciated for your videos at all. Thanks for making videos that level of understanding. I just bought a black premium package awd 2008 Lexus rx400h for $9000. The first owner made a folder for ALL maintenance records since he bought it. He has done with maintenance in Beverly Hills Lexus most of the time. I literally have 300 pages of oil change and some other repairs, maintenance records for that vehicle. This vehicle is made in Japan. It is black color and 15 years garage kept. There is no even dust around the engine. I got a blue driver scanner to see any codes but no! It was totally clean so I wonder if I made a good deal with that car. I always prefer buying cars from first owners and ones with maintenance records kept. What do you think?

That is a question better asked before you buy, than after.

Sounds like at least it was well taken care of, the thing that may go before anything else is likely the battery.

Even with the cost of buying a new battery at some point, it will still likely outlast much of the new garbage being sold these days, and not cost as much.

Sounds like a good purchase to me. But for the codes you have to be careful because they can reset the codes and the codes won't show until you drive it for certain miles. So be careful for those. Since you said the owner had records of maintenance you should be good to go. Always check with mechanics or check yourself thoroughly before buying and don't take the sellers words for it. They will say anything to sell you the car. There is a reason why there selling the car in the first place because if the car runs and drives fine who in their right mind would sell the car? But anyways Lexus is basically a Toyota with a fancier name focusing especially in the American market because rich people don't like to be driving in a Toyota. Lexus on the other hand can be costly to maintain since there luxury and Toyota is affordable and cheaper. Toyota and Lexus parts are interchangeable so if you know for sure a Toyota Part will fit in a Lexus you can just buy the Toyota Part and put it in Lexus and buy it for a lot cheaper than the expensive Lexus part. Keep up with the maintenance and it should last a really long time. Good luck. Also I forgot to mention since it's a hybrid it's good till maybe about 250k miles and then it becomes an endless money pit. So I would get rid of it before the hybrid battery and the rest of the hybrid systems starts to fail.

There are plenty of people that sell perfectly good used cars because they just want something else, or they want to keep up with the Jones's. Sometimes they may need a different type of car for their life, like maybe they used to have a truck, now they don't need it. Many other reasons as well.

Ok
