Scotty

I’m traveling 2600 miles to purchase this 2008 Mazda B4000 4x4 manual transmission truck.

The trucks exterior is in excellent condition as is the interior. No rust or stains.
It currently has 111,000 miles on it.

Im paying 10k for it.

I was sent a video of the cold start and idle. The engine sounds great.
I was worried about the timing chain and also the head gasket. But it sounds great. Nothing unordinary.

What would you worry about if you were purchasing this vehicle?

Buying a vehicle long-distance is a real gamble. You can't believe anything the seller tells you. Did you have a mechanic local to that truck look it?

A friend is flying in with me. He’s a mechanic with 20 years.
However, multiple perspectives seem logical.
Maybe the question is does 10k seem fair given the description?

Hard to say, that seems like a heck of a lot for a 15-year-old truck with well over 100,000 miles on it but the market is still so out of whack maybe that's the going rate. You could check on what comparable trucks are going for to get an idea.

Ford ranger is anywhere from 12-21k same.
Tacoma is 15-28k.

Can’t find any Mazdas in this good of condition. when I do, they all have 50-75k more miles and the dealer still wants 9-13k.

I’m going to run it in the dirt then do a b4T or TDI diesel swap.

I guess it's in the ballpark then. Be sure your mechanic friend gives it a good going-over. It appears to be very similar to the Ford Ranger (Ford and Mazda had a partnership back then). Doesn't seem to be much in the way of major problems reported with them but at that age its maintenance history will be the main determining factor.

One owner, clean title, car fax is clean(lol).
Driven in an area where corrosion is nonexistent.
Zero rust on the undercarriage or body.
True unicorn I must say.
That’s why I am apprehensive.

The fact it's a manual is somewhat reassuring.  But very likely due for a clutch, if it hasn't been done.  See what that would cost you and use it in your negotiations.

Watch for AC problems, could be a very big hidden expense.
