I have a 2008 Toyota Camry and it has a bad leak from the Timing Chain cover it is a 6-cylinder so I am told it will be expensive and take a long tome to repair it has 92k miles on it and I would like to know if you think it is worth repairing and if so should I have them replace the chain as well
Thank You
The timing chain cover oil leak is well known on the V6 Toyota 2gr-fe engines and is a lot of work. Engine has to come out to reseal the timing chain cover. It books for 25 +/- hours so yes, it's expensive, but only you can decide if you want to dish out the $$ to get it fixed.
No, you don't need to touch the chain unless there's a problem with it.
How bad is the leak? Is it just a light film of oil seeping out, or is it dripping down?
it is dripping out until 1\2 quart is gone and then not until you start it up
That's bad.
You have low mileage so I think it's worth repairing.
Thank You
"Should I repair my timing chain cover leak?"
Yes.
