[Solved] AC compressor releases freon in high pressure bursts at 2,000 to 2,500 rpm

2008 Toyota Sequoia SR5 5.7L V-8 4WD, A/C compressor releases freon in high pressure bursts at about 2,000 to 2,500 engine rpm, I assume the compressor is bad?

The truck seems to cool OK until enough freon is lost to the point where it loses efficiency. With gauges connected, the high pressure only gets up to about 150 psi before the compressor relief valve shoots quick bursts of gas. At idle everything works as advertised and if you baby the throttle keeping it under 2,000 rpm, all seems OK. I thought maybe it was just a bad relief valve but of course nobody sells just the valve, that I can find. But it could also be the compressor having an internal problem.

Does this mean the compressor is bad?

It doesn't necessarily mean the compressor is bad they have high pressure bleed off valves if the pressure gets too high it will release it when the pressure gets too high so it could be a stock expansion valve or any type of restriction that's building up the high side pressure then that valve on the compressor will open up and let refrigerant out
