2008 Toyota Solara Sticky Dash

I bought a used 2008 Toyota Solara convertible with 101,000 miles. It was basically sound and seemed to be a fun project. I was unaware of the sticky dash problem until I drove in bright sunlight and found that I could not see through the reflection in the windshield. Research, and a recent post that you provided about a similar problem in a Lexus led to to inquire about whether mine had been repaired.

My car did have the dash replaced under the recall in 2015. No other dealership help has been given or offered.

The question is: Did Toyota replace these bad dashes with the same part that had failed? Did they not use a replacement that solved the problem with the melting dash? Could this be a case of fraud by a dealer in 2015 when they offloaded a known defective part and charged Toyota for the part and labor for the replacement part?

I need to replace my dash, but do not want a part that will soon fail.

Thanks for all you do for those of us who love our cars!

If you want to fix it, @Doc knows a company that works on dashes. Contact them and see what they say.

The place that rebuilds dashboards is - Just Dashes, Van Nuys, CA.  They do an incredible job of restoring dash pads and interior parts .

Yeah they just replaced them with the same dashes and they won't do it again my advice would be buy one of those dash covers they actually make molded ones that will silicone on top of the original one and they look pretty good
