- Hey Scotty my 2009 Yukon 5.3 v8 started tapping sounds and is low on power with a misfire on cy1. This is the engine that can drop to 4cyl. Am i about to lose a ton of money?

Depends. If you do the work, shouldn't be too bad. Can you remove valve cover confidently and have you ever done so? If so, checking valve lash and replacing worn parts up top ain't bad. However, if your cam is worn (can be determined by lifter rod travel under valve cover), quite a bigger job and incidental parts will need replacing during disassembly. Find a local indy and get quotes and ask at autoparts store for good indy's. Most likely can be resolved under valve cover tho. A common issue with all gm 5.3's.
