My son is in Wisconsin and I'm in Minnesota so I can't be much help but what he tells me is the car doesn't do anything and the key won't come out of the ignition. When he first went to the car only the back doors unlocked. He tried starting the car and there was nothing and then the key wouldn't come out of the ignition. I had him try moving the steering wheel around and make sure it was in park. Still nothing. I had him try jumping it but still nothing. ( He never paid much attention to me working on vehicles. I can only hope he had the cables on right and good connection). Car is 2010 Buick Lacrosse with about 160,000 miles and an automatic. He said he hasn't had any problems with the battery before but he's had the car for 4 years and it's the battery that came in the car.

Have the battery tested first. Make sure you're getting the correct voltage. If the battery is fine, then you would have to replace the ignition cylinder.

In terms of getting the key out, spray WD-40 into the ignition. If you do end up yanking the key out, then you would need pliers If it snapped.

I told him to replace the battery. I haven't heard yet if he has done it.
