Hello,
With today's crazy car prices, I was thinking of upgrading my old 2010 Subaru Forester's (60,000 miles, automatic transmission) radio instead of purchasing a new vehicle. I just got major service done on it and I figure the car will last me until at least 100,000 miles. Am I able to do this radio swap myself? What tools will I need? Do I need to do any soldering or wire crimping (and if so does anyone have any recommendations for these tools)? Or is this more plug and play (or are there adapters I can buy)? I mostly want a new unit that is not too hard to install, has apple carplay, and is reliable. Anyone have any aftermarket radio recommendations?
Check out crutchfield.com, they sell aftermarket radios and have installation kits with step-by-step instructions for many vehicles. (They've been in the business a very long time. I used to buy 8-track tape decks from them.)
