hey scotty i have a 2010 Subaru legacy with a 2.5I engine with 185k miles (highway miles). my car rattles a bit when idling and when i accelerate. i took it to two shops and they cant figure out what is goin on.

It's also possible the cat is breaking up a bit internally with pieces rattling around inside.
Thanks ill look into it, i checked the cat shield and its in tact so im gonna go ahead and order a new cat and see if that works.
Better to do more diagnosis rather than just throw parts at it! You could try tapping on the cat and see if there are rattling noises inside or get a mechanic who can use the kind of noise-finding equipment that Scotty uses.
