Subaru Legacy overheating issue

Hi, my friend's 2007 Subaru Legacy with 183,000km (114,375 miles) has recently had some issues with overheating. Supposedly after driving when the ignition of the car is turned off but still in the ON position, a low-pitch humming sound can be heard in the front as well as the smell of oil, there are no visible leaks of coolant and exhaust isn't spitting out any white smoke. The hood of the car is very hot once he has stopped driving. I've told him to check coolant levels and the oil dipstick to see if there's any coolant in the oil.

Are there any other issues that could perhaps occur if the coolant levels are not low or if there is no coolant contamination in the oil/a blown gasket that could cause a rise in temperature? Thanks!

Of course the blowing that gasket can do that. Subarus are notorious for that. So do my video how to tell if your head gasket is blown Scotty. It's on YouTube. If not that watch my other video. How to fix an overheating car engine Scotty
