2011 Buick CXL Lucerne - Transmission “catch” when re-accelerating

100K Miles

For about the last 1 year (~10K miles) I’ve noticed that when I am coasting to a stop, down under 10 mph, and then re-acclerate (light has turned green/traffic cleared) there will be a brief “catch” or “thump” from the direction of the transmission.  It doesn’t seem to happen “all the time” but mostly if I’ve been driving at highway speeds for a bit (30-60 min) and coasting/reacclerating.  I’ve been able to circumvent it most times by “very gently” reaccelerating.  I’ve tried flushing the transmission fluid.  I would like to keep the car for 2-3 more years and suspect it is not worth having a transmission mechanic dig into it however I wanted to ensure it might not be something simple like a solinoid etc.  Thank you for all you do. Curtis

Well unfortunately GM doesn't make such great products and your transmission is starting to break down internally you tried to easy fix but they just start breaking down physically and there's nothing you can do about it. But you could have a real professional automatic transmission mechanic road test and diagnostic with this fancy scan tool because maybe there's a problem with one of the shifts solenoids and they can be easily replaced you don't have to take the whole transmission apart to do that
