2011 Honda Fit cylinder 3 misfire

Question

I have a 2011 Honda Fit sport with 55k miles on the engine. I use the vehicle to travel back and forth between Texas and Louisiana for work. One day while driving from Texas the car starting running really rough and felt like I lost all power to the engine. I had the car towed to a near by shop and they said that the spark plug came out with the coil. So they helicoiled the spark plug hole installed new plugs and coils to all 4 cylinders. They also added a fuel treatment to help with fuel performance. I drove the car about a month and the issue came back. I took the car to the same shop and they said that they can not find a reason why the plug keeps coming out. The said I might need to replace the engine or take it to a engine machine shop. I asked them what test did they do and they told me they ran a compressor test and found the engine at 20 psi. I feel like the engine has a lot of life left and I don’t want to spend a ton of cash on a used engine. Is there any idea of what could be going on? And the test to prove please?

You should be able to get a new cylinder head replaced without having to get a new engine. It is possible that someone who worked on the engine before used the wrong spark plugs and cross threaded them.

So not only have the probably ruined the threads inside your engine - they also really ripped you off.

I feel like the engine has a lot of life left and I don’t want to spend a ton of cash on a used engine. Is there any idea of what could be going on?

well, the engine is head. I’d drive it until it dies and replace it later with a used unit.

alternately, you can go to a machine shop and see if they can do the repair for reasonably cheap. Maybe just replace the head although that’s quite expensive (usually more than a used engine or machine work)
