Hey Scotty, need your expertise. I have a 2011 Toyota Rav4 4 cylinder. Bought the car from my mother for a steal with 60k miles. Around 80k miles, the car began to grind and rumble when driving between 35-50 mph in 4th gear. I did some digging around on Toyota forums and saw a few people saying they had the same problem with this generation Rav4. My solution for the last 2 years has been to put the transmission in 3 below 50mph, and then shift into Drive above 50mph. The car runs fine otherwise and aside from slightly poorer gas mileage, it's at 116k miles now no other issues. I'm just going to ride it as is until I can get a new car. What is the problem and have you seen this before?
Thanks, Chris from NY
I've seen it before if you want to try sometimes Toyota can reprogram the computer to stop doing that but if that doesn't work just live with it rebuilding those tranies cost
