[Solved] 2012 Honda Pilot -Timing Belt and Water Pump question

Hi Scotty.

My 2012 Honda Pilots has 156,000 miles. I change my water pump and timing belt back in 2018 at 98,000 miles. The dealer is telling me that I have to replace it. How would I know if the water pump is going?

They also said I have a small leak in my power steering pump, but I don't hear anything or see any dripping. Lastly, do you know any good reasonably priced mechanics in the Boston area that you could recommend?

Thank you for your help.

Greg

Sounds a little early for that. (I believe Honda recommends the change be done every 8 years or 100K miles, whichever comes first. You should be able to confirm that in your owner's manual.)

The dealer is the last place you should be going for anything but warranty or recall repairs.

It would be leaking or making noise.

There are mechanic referrals in the FAQ, some are in the Boston area.

@chucktobias Thank you!
