Hello,
The check engine light on my Mazda came on with the code P0016 crank position
I took it to a mechanic who said trying to fix is laborious and he cannot guarantee. He replaced sensor for crankshaft timing too see if that solves the issue. His logic was method of elimination via cheaper solution. It did not and am out $$ and check engine light and same code still come on.
Mechanic prefers purchasing a used engine than trying to fix. I’m debating asking if dealer can fix but would like expert advice on if it is worth sinking more money in engine versus trading in. Also worried about dealer charges and don’t want to throw good money after bad.
