2012 Mercedes Benz ML 350 Bluetec 134000.
Scotty, I bought this car recently from a dealer for $11000. Did I make a mistake in purchasing this car? I really like the ride, acceleration, and towing capabilities of this car, but am I in for a world of hurt in the future with this ride?

Probably.

Perhaps so but you will probably not like the repair bills quite as much. Search Scotty's videos on youtube and posts on this board. He has talked about Mercedes Benz vehicles many times, usually in the context of "endless money pit".
Maybe, maybe not. The Bluetec is a diesel for efficiency purposes, but not for durability like the old 240 and 300 diesels. It's complex and fussy. Though when it is running well, it has a certain charm. And the fuel tank range is fantastic (700 miles on the highway is usually doable). I haven't owned one personally, but the owners I have talked to love them.
That engine is going to be very maintenance-sensitive. Use high-quality oil and change it every 5000. Change the fuel filter probably every 10,000. Be picky about where you buy fuel; use only high-volume retailers that sell a lot of diesel. And I would probably run a diesel additive in the fuel (I don't have a recommendation for which one; maybe check the mercedes forums).
My biggest worries are the injectors and the high-pressure fuel pump. If those go out, it will be very expensive (probably a grand for an injector, and 2-3 grand for the pump). If you have to pay a dealer, it will hurt. So take the time now to find a good independent diesel shop that does a lot of Mercedes. Get to know them now so that if you need major work they know you and you feel comfortable there.
