2012 Subaru Impreza WRX
What are your thoughts on this make and model? Thinking of purchasing but the mileage is 140k. It's Vin starts with J so japanese manufactured. I'm planning on getting a ppi but wondering if it's worth the time investment.
Aside from the usual issues you might find with a 12-year-old Subaru, the WRX usually has had the h-e-double-hockey sticks beat out of it by typically young owners. I'd make sure it passes a very thorough pre-purchase inspection and don't pay too much for it.
It’s a fine car. But it’s old and has high miles. And like @chucktobias says, it’s probably had a hard life.
It really depends on purchase price. WRXs hold value for a long time. But I’ll bet you it will need a few grand in engine and transmission work in the near future.
Also, parts won’t be a problem. But assume it will need attention one week a month. If you don’t have the time or the tools, don’t buy it.
And yes, get a PPI and use that to negotiate your price.
