2012 Traverse Stabilitrack/Traction control issue

Hello,

We have a 2012 Chevy Traverse LT, Front Wheel Drive, with ~87,000 miles on it.

We're getting a set of errors that pop up on the dash infrequently but persistently. The errors on the dash are "traction control off" "service Stabilitrak" "service traction control" (I believe in that order). When the error happens, nothing particular happens during the drive, i.e. the car doesn't seem to go into limp mode, or massively slow down, or struggle for maintaining speed or anything like it. Sometimes it happens on the highway, sometimes it happens on normal slow streets. It doesn't seem to happen more frequently during acceleration or during breaking.

We've taken it to a trustworthy shop twice, and each time, they scan it and attempt to recreate the problem but are unable to do so.

I've checked online for others having this issue and seen a group of suggestions for this error series, and so I've tried replacing the brake pedal sensor, I've checked fuses, I've checked wires, I've changed the air filter and I've cleaned the throttle body, MAF sensor, and the snorkel between the air filter box and the throttle body.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, that error is a catch-all for a whole variety of different faults. You'll have to catch it with a scanner when the light is lit up.  Try to notice if there's a pattern to when it comes on. For example, idling or under heavy load. Engine warm or cold. A particular gear etc.

That was what I had gathered, but I was curious if anyone else had a better insight.

I'm planning on starting a log to record conditions when it happens. Unfortunately it's just not common enough right now that anything sticks out in memory as a trigger. I guess we're stuck waiting for things to get worse.

Thanks for the input.

Try doing some sharp turns, or U-turns in a parking lot, and see if that triggers it.

Steering angle sensors are frequent cause of this. (and they're easy to replace).

I'll give that a shot. Thanks for the suggestion.
