Hi Scotty. I am a 63 yr old retiree living on meager means. I bought my 2012 Tundra (4.0 L V6, auto) with 2500 miles in 2013. Its got 160K on it now. I have not done any serious periodic maintenance other than oil/filter/tires. So Im thinking of either keeping it forever or buying something newer. If I keep it I want to sink some money into it and have all the recommended maintenance done plus new tires and interior so its like a new truck. I’m guessing a few things I need to do are timing chain, serpentine belt, brakes. What else would you recommend to have my 10 yr old truck be good as new and last me till I am worm food?

Now is the best time to trade or sell a vehicle because the market is focused on used. So you will most likely get top dollar for your Tundra. Now if you want to keep it yeah you definitely have some preventative maintenance to do. Other than the stuff you posted transmission drain and fill, diff fluid change, transfer case fluid change I’d definitely change the spark plugs, check all your rubber components make sure nothings rotted or anything. Up to you though 🤷‍♂️ What would you get if you traded it in/ sold it?

timing chain

You do not need to do timing chain if you don't have symptoms and changed your oil regularly.

I would keep the truck since you know how well you took care of it. Better the devil you know that the devil you don't know.

It is always cheaper to keep'er.  Put a smaller amount of money into maintenance and it will last until you're no longer warm to the touch.
