Hi friends! I just bought a 2012 golf with 48k miles on it. As I was driving, I felt the engine thud; then the check engine light came on. However, the car drives 100% fine; I only get rough shifts when the check engine light is on. The dealer scaned it and got p0106. They took the car and cleaned the throttle body; it worked for a little then the light came back. They tried the MAP sensor that didn't work. Any other suggestions? Thanks!!
2012 Volkswagen Golf 2.5I
Thanks for the feedback! I tried everything on there and took it to my mechanic. He as well tried everything, we did find a Tech bulletin that VW has a software update for this issue. I am taking it in tomorrow and hoping that fixes it!
Good luck & please keep us updated on the fix.
700 miles later the car has not given me any trouble. If anyone has the P0106 MAP sensor code on a VW 2.5, try the software update. I have a link to a tech bulletin VW made. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2014/SB-10069633-2280.pdf. They are going to make you pay like 200 for a software update (stupid because its their fault). But if your transmission if shifting rough and you have this code, try this. It solved my shifting and code issues. I was told this code makes the transmission go into limp mode. I hope this helps someone!!
Thank you for letting us know! All the best.
Did you figure out the issue? I am having the same exact problem, i had a bulletin that required a map sensor update and I did that, but the problem still isnt solved. I get hard shifts, rough acceleration, and my 2.5 acts weird. Should I replace the map sensor or should I do something else?
Are you also getting code P0106? Go through the diagnostic procedure here:
