I have a 2015 Volkswagen Golf with 100000 miles. About an hour into a drive with the ac on something must be freezing up and stopping the flow of air completely. Fan is running and air is cold and strong at the start of the drive but nothing is coming out. It will come back after turning the heat on or shutting the ac off. Already changed the cabin air filter in case it was clogged. Any ideas on what to try would be great
Any codes? (A pro-grade scan tool may be needed to read HVAC codes.) Your evaporator temperature sensor or its circuitry may have failed, permitting the evaporator to get so cold that it ices up from atmospheric moisture.
The scan tool I have didn’t have any hvac codes but it’s a cheap one I’ll probably have to have it checked with a prograde one
