Hello guys, my 2013 Toyota Corolla Le automatic recently encountered an issue. It has about 110,000 miles on it. I suspect that it has something to do with the transmission. I never had any problems with it until today. I was backing out of my driveway and when I attempted to put it into drive it wouldn't shift (if that's the correct terminology). I noticed that the gear selector wasn't matching the gear indicator on the dash. For example, if I selected neutral on the shifter I would get 2 on the indicator. Almost as if all the gears were mixed up. When I put it on park nothing would appear. I can also only start the car in neutral. I think its clear that there is an issue with the transmission but I would like to have an idea of what in particular it could be. I plan to take it to a transmission shop but don't want to ger ripped off. Also would it worth get fixing?
Thanks guys!
Did it happen all of a sudden?
Did you turn off the car and start over to see what happens?
Yeah it happend all of a sudden, after playing around repeatedly with the shifter I was finally able to put it in 2 to park my car again in the driveway. Car only starts in neutral, going by the indicator on the dash and not the signage on the shifter. I've researched this a bit and could it be something related to the shift cable?
That’s possible. Corollas have good transmission and it is unlikely that they have issues in this mileage you have.
