2013 Nissan Pathfinder, no codes,... Without any preceding symptoms, working as intended for 8 years, AC suddenly, in the middle of the trip stopped working. Ice cold air one moment, minute later just hot air (it is 90F here). No sounds, leaks, ... Tried simplest solution first, got AC recharge canister. However, I did not add any into the system as the gauge on the canister showed high pressure in the system and manufacturer advice on the bottle hints at the "mechanical problem in the system" if high pressure is observed. No numbers, gauge is simple color coded - green (lowest pressure), blue, yellow, red (high pressure). Gauge shows the middle of the red range. Any suggestions? Thanks and be seeing you!
Did you use a full manifold gauge set or just one of those cheap, useless low-side gauges that comes on some cans of refrigerant?
To do a proper diagnosis you need a gauge set that will show pressure on both high and low sides of the system. An inexpensive set runs about $50-$60 or some auto parts stores may loan them out. Here's some troubleshooting info:

It's good that you didn't charge anything in from that bottle since those things typically contain sealers that can damage your AC system and any equipment that gets connected to it.
Just the cheap low-side gauge that was on the can...
Those are no good, you can't do any real diagnosis with those things, and if they contain sealer (most do) they can make matters worse if used to actually recharge the AC system. (A friend of mine found that out the hard way.)
95% certain your compressor failed not entirely uncommon on those especially at the age
