Hi Scotty,
I'm own a 2013 Nissan Sentra 1.8 SV with around 97,700 mileage. I'm very happy with the car, gives me 40.6MPG, changes oil every 4300 Miles. But there are 3 issues that I couldn't clear up until now.
1. The TPMS light is always on. The previous owner took the sensors from the tires. So if I put new sensors myself, will the car detect them? or I have to go to Nissan for that?
2. There is acceleration lag or drag between 25-30 MPH, Where I'm finding the RPM goes down and picks up again, as well as the engine sound. This also happens when I'm slowing down the car, when the speed reaches below 30, the RPM raises up as well as the engine. This shouldn't happen as its CVT engine, right?
3. I can hear the tire sound, wind sound, etc from the right side of the Car (passenger side), even outside air comes in. Could it be because of the right side Air Vent not closing? or any Hull damage on that side?
Can you try to make a YouTube video describing #2 & #3, then post the link here?
That cvt operation of rpm drop is normal that is torque converter lock up. When you reach a cruising speed usually around 30-40 as well as again around 60 and maintain throttle the torque converter will go into lock up allowing rpm to drop which gives you better fuel economy because the car is essentially idling down the road. Second yes the tpms sensors if factory will need to be programmed otherwise the light will always be on and for the wind noise I would start with checking your door seals on that side, never usually the body side seals but the seals on the doors can become separated from the grooves that hold them and should be able to be put back in.
1. You’ll have to go to Nissan if you want the factory TPMS to start functioning again. Or you can buy an aftermarket TPMS & instal it yourself (your TPMS light will still remain illuminated).
The engine noise will usually correspond to the tachometer reading.
2. & 3. We’ll need to see a video please
Also scan the scan to check for any stored codes related to #2.
Acceleration hesitation and haywire rpms on a Nissan CVT with 100k miles?
Sorry but you should make a funeral for your transmission.
