Hi, I am looking to purchase first car for my daughter. I am looking at a Honda Accord 2014 but I see that it has a CVT engine. 98k miles. Is there a problem with the CVT engine?
There is no such thing as a "CVT engine" - it's a transmission (that's what the "T" in "CVT" is). There are other possible trouble spots in that model but reports don't indicate the CVT being one of them. However CVTs do have a shorter lifespan than conventional automatic transmissions. A good one might go 150K miles or so. Regular fluid changes can help.

Our moderator @dan may have specific details on the CVT used in that model.
Thanks for your answer and correction! I have been reading so much about these cars, didn't realize I put engine instead of transmission.
We purchased my wife’s four cylinder 2013 Accord Sedan new. After ten years and 75K miles:
The starter motor is a bad design. I installed one from a wreck, put new brushes in the original one, and keep a brand new one in my garage as another spare.
The CVT works well but checking the level of the very expensive fluid is user unfriendly.
The sun visor pivoting mechanism is improperly designed as after a few years the visor won't go over center and park all the way up. I've not found a practical way to lubricate or repair the problem.
The battery management sensor gave no trouble but was replaced by a recall.
