2014 Hyundai Accent 5dr 1.6L 4cyl started throwing a P0441 code (with check engine light on) over a year ago, have read watched videos saying no big deal, just less efficient mileage so changed the gas cap and called it a day. No apparent other issues. Car ran fine. Bought May 2019 with about 50,000km.
Now at 160,000 km+, car has started stalling, stuttering a bit while in motion, difficult to start sometimes, check engine light on again, sometimes the immobilizer light comes on(?), P0441 is back, could clear it before and it wouldn't show up for a month, now is constant. I changed the purge valve, no improvement. I did some googling and sounds like it could be the crank position sensor.
When I first bought the car the fuel gauge would jump up and down, going from full to empty in the blink of an eye, didn't seem to affect the operation of the vehicle and it hasn't done that recently. Could it be the fuel pump, CPS, or am I looking at chasing a symptom down a rabbit (money?) hole?
Thanks for any advice you may have
Yeah it says probably time to get rid of that chunker those Korean cars only last so long then become endless money pits it's pretty much through its life cycle it's not like it's a Toyota or a Honda
As an update... Thx Scotty for getting back to me. The change to the EGR purge valve did nothing, but I eventually did get a P0335 Crank Position Sensor "A" Circuit malfunction, so went to Amazon and bought a new part. The car then started revving when I would start it and bog out when trying to accelerate. I figured bad sensor (cheap Chinese part - $20), so I got a refund from Amazon and spent about 50 bucks on a better CPS, installed it, all codes cleared on their own, car runs like its new again. I'm thinking I'll get rid of it before another code/sensor pops up, at least get something for the trade in. Thanks again for getting back to me Scotty, love the videos, keep 'em coming!!
