My grandmother has a 2014 Jeep Cherokee with the diesel engine. She took to the dealer because it has a recall for the engine blowing up and they said 'nothing we can do there is no fix for the issue' .My grandmother uses this as her daily truck for her business of hauling travel trailers that she rents out to where they need to be. My grandmother is rightfully worried. They literally told her to take her chances and if it blows they might do something. The other thing is is that she has had the EGR cooler replaced already but I bet its the same exact faulty one that broke before. What avenues should she take. She has a lawyer that might take the case but I dont know how far that could take her. She only has one vehicle and needs it for work like I feel the least they could do is give her a loaner vehicle or something because it could be very dangerous when the engine blows. Im not talking bad about Dodge/ Chrysler either. My dads 2008 chrysler town and country has over 350,000 miles on it and never even had to touch the engine or transmission and he has had it since it was new. So they can make good vehicles but they choose not to which is quite frustrating. It seems they like all the other companies Toyota with their floor mats and past electrical issues, GM with their ignition switch failures, and Kia with engine fires, are choosing profit over human lives.
In this case, trade. Probably give her the best piece of mind and that's important for her (per your post).
