Hi Scotty, I purchased a 2014 Acura MDX in 2019 with 70,500 miles on it. It currently has 113,700 and has been flawless thanks to not having the ZF9 transmission (Mine is the 6 speed). I drain-fill the trans fluid every 10,000 miles which got me thinking about the rear differential fluid. My car is optioned with SH-AWD and to my knowledge the differential fluid has never been changed. There is nothing in the Carfax regarding this service from the previous owner. I am not having any issues with the differential currently. However my question is… if I change the differential fluid now will I ruin my differential? I really want to change it but do not want to risk destroying the differential. Please let me know what you think I should do. Thank you for your help.
I really want to change it but do not want to risk destroying the differential.
Then change it of course if you want it to last.
On what strange planet does maintaining a car destroy it?
Yes, go ahead and change it. And if the owners manual doesn’t specify, repeat about every 50,000 miles.
But did I read you that you’re changing the transmission fluid every 10k? Is that what the manual specifies?
By the way, welcome to the forum! 🙂
I would change it. Make sure you have the right viscosity oil.
