Hello everyone my 2014 silverado is coming up on 140k miles

my question is simple how long do y’all think it will last until it goes out? It still runs like new but I think when it goes out I’m gonna trade it in for a used 2016 or 2017 5.0L coyote

I should add that I put a 4.5” lift on the truck at 111k miles and went from 17” to 20” wheels without regearing only a tire speedometer adjustment I don’t know if this will contribute to tranny going out or not. Let me know your thoughts thanks.

Never lift a truck if you dont need it, you're going to put strain on it for that, and not just the tranny. Think of lifting your truck like burning your money, unless you want to look cool and nothing else its not worth it.

pros of lifting a truck:

able to traverse low water/mud more easily

looks cool? (personally I hate lifted trucks, makes the person look like an idiot.)

gets your steps in for climbing in and out

Cons of lifting a truck:

puts strain on parts you didn't think would normally break

makes it have a much higher rollover risk (and that's a great way to get killed because number 1 cause of deaths in accidents is rollover.)

makes it harder to park and navigate the road

adds more to the possibility of not seeing someone and running them over.

potentially lowers resale cost (didn't seem to concern you.)

Yea I think lifted trucks look dumb too but only when it’s the typical 6” lift on 35 inch tires or more

I regret lifting my truck 4.5” and am completely over it now lost 3-5mpg depending how fast I drive it seems

But tbh you hating on lifted trucks didn’t answer my question in the slightest though I somewhat agree with you on the lifted truck topic

I misread it, I thought you were thinking of putting a lift on it and was wondering how long would the transmission last... as for the question, its going to depend... alot, and on alot of factors. I dont lift trucks for a reason, so it can last anywhere from 0 miles till at least 100k miles. silverados are still decent trucks, but because its lifted it may not last long or it may be fine. basically drive it normal, dont slam on the accelerator, and dont try to weave in and out of traffic like a mad man and it will probably still last a fair while. as for trading it in, no idea.
