Been listening to you for a while now and own 2007 Lexus Gs350, 2008 Civic Si (8200 rpms of chaos) and now a 2014 taurus limited, 3.5L(oops) .
Question for ya. When I start the Taurus cold, the battery light comes on. Live data shows battery at steady 11.6v. Once it warms up,it jumps to a steady 14.3v. The only other issue I see is occasionally the Grille Shutter shows as blocked when reading live data. Could this be draining the voltage? There is almost no fluctuations. It is steady 11. 6v~11.7v.
One thing I have found is the alternator and grill Shutter Actuator are controlled on the same LIN(network line) on this generation Fords. I would hate to bring it to a dealer because I don't want to have to mortgage my house, to fix my car.
Once it is at running temp, the battery light never comes back on and runs great!
Should I be looking at connectors, computer or replacing the grill Shutter?
Have the battery and alternator load tested. Check the grill shutters for jamming and improper operation.
I have had the battery, alternator and starter tested and all passed. The shutters are moving, although Slowly. (not sure how fast they should be moving since never seen one in action) but seems like around 5 sec to close.
I have checked the connection to the grill Shutter and looks brand new. Tried tracing the line but lose it when it joins the mass of wires, so can't see the otherside(unfortunately I don't have a wiring diagram, although that is my next purchase).
Thank you so much for your reply
