Which flywheel should I buy

2014 VW Jetta Sportwagen Tdi

Dear Mr. Kilmer:

I have the above car and the DSG flywheel needs to be replaced. The car has just about 146000 miles.

I saw a couple of options, but was wondering whether any longer-lasting flywheels (supposedly the Deka) are a worthwhile “investment”.

The VW dealership would charge about $2500 for this job. What would you do besides not buying this car in the first place?

Best,

First, I would not go to the Volkswagen today. I'd find a transmission shop to do the job much cheaper. And I would use whatever clutch they advise because that's a diesel engine. It's not like it's a race vehicle and needs super strong clutches those engines don't put out that much horsepower anyway
