Hey Scotty and friends! My family's 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan makes a loud high-pitched whirring noise in the center dash air vents - almost like the sound you hear from a jet engine. This sound gets louder and more irritating when we turn the fan dial higher. What could be causing this problem? And how do we fix it?
Either the blower motor bearings are going out or you have a bunch of leaves and crud inside the fan housing.
replace the blower motor
Also check the cabin air filter to verify its clean and free from any dirt/debris.
This sounds like the problem I'm having, except when I bought my 2005 Dodge Caravan (246000 miles) two weeks ago, the blower was not working. It only just started working yesterday and was making that noise. The blow force I was finally getting (full blast on the dial) was up and down and that lasted about ten minutes and now it doesn't blow anymore. The noise didn't happen on the lower settings. I was hoping that the blower fan had just gotten knocked loose after sitting a long time at the junk cars dealership (like how the cruise control in my last junk car got better after I used it a bunch). Is that a thing; a blower suddenly coming to life again and being good as new?
No. It'll probably die soon and take out the resistors with it.
