2015 Honda CRV - CMBS Light On - $1K Camera Replacement??

Our 2015 Honda CRV Touring Edition with automatic trans has about 120k miles on it.

It has a Check CMBS light on for the Crash Mitigation Braking System.

Dealer checked and cleared code. Said if it comes back on we'll need to replace the $1k camera.

The light has come back on. Do I really need to replace the camera or is the dealer throwing my money against the wall to see what sticks?

THANK YOU!

If you get into a collision, just die like a real man.. But seriously, do you need a computer to monitor your driving habits? What did all of us do before this system was introduced into automobiles?

Put your wallet back into your pocket and just live with it.

If you’re a fanatic about it, find an independent mechanic who specialises in these systems and ask them to diagnose what’s going on, and not just throw parts at it.

To answer your question in the last paragraph - the latter.

Sadly I do not have the repair manual for the CR-V,

But generally you want to find the part number and see if you can buy it for cheaper.

the $1k camera

It's not a $1,000 camera, it's a camera that they want to charge you $1,000 for!

Go to a junkyard,

find a CR-V pay like $50 for the camera,

pay $10 to Honda to know what the install procedure is,

Install and go to a shop to do the calibration procedure if it feels off.

From what I can see, Part number 36160-T1W-A84

Great idea about junk yard and great tips. Thank you.

I'm fine with living with it. It's the wife who thinks we need to go to the dealer yesterday and give them an open line of credit to fix it... 🤣🤣

Thank you guys!
