in auto it drives fine when i first start it up and drive but after its warmed up from a stop when i put it in first it hesitates to go but will after a few seconds finally go and then when i shift to 3rd the rpm go up to like 4000 and stays for a few seconds then will slowly go back down and finally shift into third if i let off the gas but if i dont let off the gas it wont go into 3rd until i let off gas . so i changed the trans fluid yesturday and it smelled burnt . and the check engine light came on other day so i disconnected the neg batt cable n light went out . will putting lucus stop slip in it help at all ? and does the car have to be put on a machine ton be reprogrammed if i reset the tcm?
only has 83000 miles on it and i just baught it 28 days ago
Congratulations. 28 days ago you bought a big lemon.
Unfortunately it is likely the transmission is worn out. However if you are very lucky it might be a problem with shift solenoids or some other non-fatal issue that particular trans is prone to. I'd have it checked out by a transmission specialist (an independent shop, not a ripoff chain shop like AAMCO or a stealership) and if they tell you it's shot you have nothing to lose by trying the Lucas product.
