I have a 2016 Corolla with 117,000 miles now. I just had the transmission shifter cable replaced due to excess driving. My mechanic suggested to change the Transmission Fluid as well (Never been changed). He said it looked burnt, but am hesitant knowing once the fluid reaches a certain mileage, to leave it, or the transmission could start slipping. My mechanic said that only applies to cars from the 2000s, and the fluid can be changed. What should I do? I don't want to ruin the transmission.
